SFC allows retail access to authorised tokenised securities

On 2 November 2023, the Securities and Futures Commission (‘SFC’) released 2 circulars in relation to the tokenisation of securities and other investment products, namely (1) Circular on intermediaries engaging in tokenised securities-related activities (‘1st Circular’) and (2) Circular on tokenisation of SFC-authorised investment products (‘2nd Circular’ together with the 1st Circular, the ‘Circulars’).
In this news flash, we present the key points that the SFC has raised on the 2nd Circular with our views on those requirements and ways in which external assistance could be helpful as appropriate.
