Hong Kong’s regulators introduce a new category of professional investors and a streamlined approach to suitability assessments

The Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority have introduced a Streamlined Approach for compliance with suitability obligations when dealing with a new category of individual professional investors – Sophisticated Professional Investors.

To provide a better customer experience, this Streamlined Approach allows individual professional investors who have high levels of net worth and substantial investment knowledge and experience to be exempted from certain suitability assessment procedures.
