Simon Cheng

Simon Cheng is a partner in Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services in PwC Hong Kong, providing advice to large corporations, banks and private equity investors on capital markets and corporate finance transactions. Simon has over 24 years of experience working with financial accounting and reporting issues associated with complex transactions.

Simon was previously based in New York city for 8 years, relocated to Hong Kong in 2005 and has since focused on servicing the Asia-Pacific region. He has spent significant time working on various transactions and special projects providing real-time advisory services including:

• US and Hong Kong IPO projects with companies in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc;
• Various IFRS and US GAAP conversion projects for corporations;
• Implementation for new IFRS / US GAAP standards including revenue recognition, financial instruments/ expected credit losses, and leasing;
• Various securitisations, structured finance products and consolidation transactions for banks and corporates;
• Structuring of M&A and joint venture transactions including many high profile, cross border deals;
• Structure and design of share incentive schemes with focus on capital markets and financial reporting implications;
• Carve-out and spinoff transactions and financial reporting issues;
• Financial risk management, derivatives and hedging program design and implementation.

Simon has worked across different industries and with particular focus on technology and ecommerce, and financial services. 

Simon is a CPA and received his BS from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a fluent speaker of English, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese.
