Maurizio, based in Hong Kong, leads PwC’s Actuarial Services practice which consists of teams in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore. He joined PwC Hong Kong in April 2018. During the past 19 years, Maurizio has assumed various positions at a global insurer, including Group Chief Life Actuary based at headquarters in Switzerland and CFO of Asia-Pacific and Middle East, based in Hong Kong. Prior to that he was a consultant with a leading actuarial consulting firm for seven years.
Maurizio has earned a bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University La Sapienza in Italy and he is a member of the Institute of Actuaries in Italy.
Representative experience:
- Led a programme of nearly three years for the modernisation of the Life Actuarial function in a global insurer as part of the implementation of the new IFRS 17 accounting requirements.
- Led the development of the Life Actuarial methodology for a global insurer and allowing local Business Units to comply with the new IFRS 17 accounting requirements.
- Was Chairman of the Board of a life insurance company in Italy from 2015 to 2017 and dealt with the introduction of the Solvency II regime in Italy for a global insurer.
- Led various M&A projects as Life CFO in APAC for a global insurer, with acquisitions in Malaysia and Indonesia, and sponsoring completion and integration projects in Finance function.
- Built a stronger Finance team in the Region for a global insurer and successfully established an Actuarial Service Centre in Malaysia which provided actuarial support to local business units.
