Lars Nielsen

Lars is the current FS Assurance Leader of PwC Hong Kong. Previous to that Lars was the Insurance Leader of PwC Hong Kong from 2013 to 2020.

Lars has more than 20 years of experience within the financial services sector, both in Denmark, Hong Kong and has worked extensively around the Asia Pacific region. He joined PwC Denmark in 1995 and PwC Hong Kong as a partner in 2006.

Lars has a broad and deep experience in audit and advisory work. He has an extensive knowledge of the developments banks and insurers are facing in the Asia-Pacific region and has been the lead audit engagement partner responsible for some of the largest financial institutions operating in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region.

Over his 29 years of experience, Lars has assisted clients on many projects, such as regulatory reporting, IFRS adoption, Initial Public Offerings, control/process reviews, advising on risk and capital matters, complaints handling, regulatory compliance, group restructurings and due diligence assignments. He brings vision and innovation to his clients through these experiences.

Lars has spoken at seminars and courses in Hong Kong on various accounting and regulatory topics. He has also been involved in authoring articles and thought leadership for PwC.

Lars is a Hong Kong CPA, a Danish State Authorized Public Accountant and a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Lars was up to end 2017 the Chairman of the HKICPA – Insurance Regulatory Liaison Group. Lars keep up-to-date with the regulation developments in Hong Kong and overseas in addition to making relevant contributions from his professional experience. Lars is a current member of the Insurance Claims Complaints Panel.
