Mainland China and Hong Kong Forensics Leader, PwC Hong Kong
Brian McGinley leads PwC's Forensic Services practice in Mainland China and Hong Kong, advising corporations and financial institutions on preventing, monitoring and responding to fraud, corruption and regulatory enforcement matters.
Brian has extensive experience advising clients in Asia, Europe and the U.S. in internal investigations, regulatory enforcement actions and compliance matters across multiple industries. He has assisted companies and their boards in internal investigations and reviews of company compliance policies and internal controls and in regulatory investigations.
His investigations experience includes asset misappropriation, financial statement fraud and corruption and bribery. Brian has advised on a wide range commercial disputes, including performing forensic accounting analysis in respect of loss of profits, breach of contract/warranty, business interruption claims, completion accounts, joint venture and valuations disputes. Brian has given expert accounting evidence in an ICC Arbitration in Hong Kong.
Starting his career with PwC Forensic in the United Kingdom in 1998, Brian has been based in Hong Kong and Beijing since 2003. Brian has authored articles and spoken on the risks of fraud and corruption in China and is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.
Brian has been selected as one of the Investigations Forensic Accountants 2022 by Who’s Who Legal (WWL). Recognised by peers and clients, “Brian is an incredibly effective forensic expert and he has a tremendous depth of knowledge when it comes to forensic investigations". Brian is also recommended by WWL as an Expert in Forensic Accountants in 2021.
