Archived webcast - Japan tax update: New independent agent rules for investment funds

9 September 2008 (Tuesday)

In a major policy shift, Japan has modernized its permanent establishment regulations.  Under the new regulations, independent agents will no longer cause an offshore principal to have a permanent establishment in Japan.

Our webcast discussed the new regulations and, in particular, special guidelines applicable to investment funds.  We also provided an update on recent court rulings on the tokumei kumiai structure and on entity classification

Please join our Japan tax specialists from the Financial Services and the International Tax Practices as they discussed these and other Japan tax changes.  This webcast is of particular interest to fund managers and investors, but may be of interest to all clients who have, or are contemplating having, investments or operations in Japan.
